Masset RCMP seized more than 200 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately $11,000 in cash following a months-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking in Masset and Old Masset.

The investigation began in May 2026 and focused on suspected drug trafficking activity at residences in the 1500-block of Burgess Avenue in Masset and the 100-block of Raven Avenue in Old Masset.

On Oct. 3, Masset RCMP officers, assisted by the North District Emergency Response Team, executed search warrants at the residences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police reported finding drug trafficking paraphernalia in one residence, while a search of another resulted in the seizure of more than 200 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately $11,000 in Canadian currency. Officers also seized a vehicle believed to be connected to the investigation.

One man was arrested during the investigation but has since been released. According to the RCMP, the investigation is awaiting results from the National Laboratory and a decision on potential charges by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work that our officers put into advancing this sensitive investigation. We will continue to work with our community to ensure they receive the support necessary following the investigation,” said Sgt. Jeff Lance, detachment commander for Masset RCMP.

The RCMP announced the seizures in an Oct. 8 news release. Police have not identified the arrested man or announced any charges.
