Masset Airport will receive more than $10.85 million in federal funding for airfield pavement and drainage improvements.
Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon announced the funding Aug. 26 as part of a $23.5-million investment in six B.C. airports through Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program.
The Masset Airport allocation totals $10,852,330 and is intended to support improvements to airfield pavement and drainage.
Village of Masset Councillor Barry Pages attended the federal announcement.
The funding was announced alongside investments at airports in Prince Rupert, Fort Nelson, Smithers, Bella Coola and Kamloops.
Transport Canada said the program supports safety-related capital projects at eligible regional airports and is intended to help improve aging infrastructure and maintain safe, reliable airport operations.
The Village of Masset thanked Transport Canada for supporting transportation-related infrastructure in the community.
