Masset voters have elected Jim Currie, Kate Stichbury, Bret Johnston and Robert Morton to village council following the Oct. 17 municipal election, with Currie receiving the highest number of votes in the eight-candidate race.

Currie, an incumbent councillor, led the field with 154 votes, representing 68.4 per cent of ballots cast. Stichbury followed with 144 votes, or 64 per cent, while incumbent Johnston received 120 votes, or 53.3 per cent. Morton secured the fourth and final council seat with 111 votes, representing 49.3 per cent.

Morton previously served on council before 2022, while Stichbury had no previous elected office experience.. The results return two incumbent councillors to the table alongside a former councillor and a newcomer.

The remaining four candidates were Jody Grange, who received 82 votes, Peter Sloan with 75, Martin Lewis with 57 and Susan Musgrave with 49.

Barry Pages was acclaimed as mayor after running unopposed, meaning voters were only required to select councillors in this year's municipal election.

A total of 225 ballots were cast from an estimated 710 eligible voters, representing approximately 31.7 per cent voter turnout.
